-= Troubles with Electric Transport =-
I've been watching videos about electric transport and have identified these main hurdles:
- Laws against light electric vehicles. Limiting scooter speeds, capping bicycle power, forcing insurance purchases - each country comes up with its own regulations, but they all tend to tighten controls and make electric transport more complex and expensive.
- Electricity prices: It's only really practical to charge electric vehicles at home. Scooters are advantageous in this regard, whereas electric cars would sit at charging stations paying a threefold premium for electricity, not to mention additional fees for time spent charging.
- Lack of charging stations. This is the same problem from another angle. Electricity is readily available in most homes, but charging stations are scarce. For instance, if I left my car charging at a station, now I'd have to walk several kilometers back home? And scooters would also benefit from charging stations - there are even fewer of them, or none at all.
