:: One year with my e-scooter ::
One year has passed since I bought my Xiaomi 4 Lite 2nd gen e-scooter. 🎉 I've made 250 trips in 365 days.
🟢 Positives:
- Low price. The e-scooter cost $300, so it paid for itself within a year.
- Reliable; it hasn't broken down once.
🤚 But:
- Sometimes the app's electronic unlocking feature doesn't work, so I've stopped using it.
⚠️ Negatives:
- Stiff deck; no suspension. Bumps are jarring, and smooth roads are rare.
- Small battery; around 20 km (12 miles) per charge.
Recently, I've noticed a new issue: chronic pain in my right shoulder. Specifically, I have to constantly press the scooter's handlebar with my right hand to keep it moving. If I stop pressing, the scooter immediately stops, leading to prolonged and continuous tension. I'm not sure if the scooter is to blame for my problem. But now, I try to minimize strain on my right arm while riding. I've made a rule: use the right hand for pressing and the left for steering. I also try to avoid situations where both hands are doing one or both of these actions. Otherwise, tension builds up from daily rides. Additionally, I always fasten my chest pack to reduce shoulder strain.
🐇 Despite these issues, I believe many more e-scooter adventures await me in the future.
